About the Club
The Old Wilsonians Tennis Club is one of the
individual Sports Sections under the umbrella of the Old Wilsonians
Association. The Tennis Club is affiliated to the Lawn Tennis Association
and is open to all members of the public.
The Club has four artificial grass courts and three
all weather porous macadam hard courts, all floodlit, making tennis here
an all year round sport.
The courts are set within a seven acre sports
complex with a fine clubhouse, complete with changing facilities, showers
and a bar/clubroom open every evening.

Activities
The club runs a number of men's, ladies and mixed
teams in both the Kent and North Kent leagues. This year we also entered a
boys U15 team in the North Kent League.
The year 2004 Summer Seasons will start with an
'Opening of the Season' tournament and tea on Sunday 4th April 2004.
Each year the club holds a Handicap and an Open
Tournament. The Handicap Tournament will have its Finals Day on Saturday
3rd April.
The Open Tournament will start on Monday 7th June
and run until finals day on Sunday 11th July.
There are various other tournaments and fun events
held during the year, as well as social activities in the clubhouse such
as quiz evenings, lunches, barbecues, our famous Beaujolais Night and the
End of Season Party.
There is an annual draw for Wimbledon tickets. There
is also a '100-Club' in which a prize draw is held every month.

General Points
- Members are expected to wear proper
tennis/sports clothing. Beach/leisure wear is not acceptable.
- Proper tennis footwear is of prime importance in
order to prevent undue wear/damage to the playing surfaces. Black soled
or ribbed trainers must not be worn.
- Food, drink (other than water), chewing gum and
smoking is not allowed on the courts.
- 'General club play' is arranged by a 'take your
turn' board system. The displayed rules should be adhered to
during this period of play.
- Considerate behaviour is expected at all times
and strong language during play should be avoided.
- To prevent disruption to the other players,
please wait until the end of their game before seeking permission to
cross their court. Please use the side gate when possible.

Notes
- Club matches will have priority on all courts at
all times. (see Match dates and times in
Kent and North Kent Leagues )
- Afternoon is defined as between 1pm and 6pm.
Winter/Summer changes to coincide with the clocks (28th March and 31st
October).
- Floodlit play should stop at 10pm..
- The hardcourts are used by the football club on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 6pm and 10pm and on Fridays
between 7.30pm - 9pm (winter only from last Tuesday in August to first
Tuesday in May).

Floodlit Tennis
The four artificial grass and two of the hard courts
are floodlit. On the artificial grass there are three floodlit sessions of
90 minutes at 5.15 pm, 6.45pm and 8.15 pm. The costs are £8 per session
per court (2 * £4 tokens)
On the hard courts the floodlit sessions are for 60
minutes from 4 pm to 10 pm. The costs are £4 per session (1 * £4 token).

Tennis Balls
Tennis balls are provided by the club. The condition
of the balls, for play on both artificial grass and hard courts, is
inspected regularly and they are renewed as necessary.

Junior Members
Junior Club Night is on Monday evenings from 5 pm to
6.30 pm. This session is for juniors to play and practice amongst
themselves under the supervision of a club member.
Subject to availability Junior members have priority
to use the hard courts at all times except when courts 5 & 6 may be
required for senior play at peak times, i.e. Thursday evenings (after 6.30
pm) and Saturday/Sunday afternoons (after 1 pm) in the summer.
Juniors may only play on the artificial grass courts
when part of a supervised coaching class, or with a full member of the
Tennis Club.
