OWFC Newsletter No. 1573

With all teams, except for the 7s, back in action there is plenty to report on. But firstly we are pleased to announce the Blue and Black away kit has been located. Thanks to all those who helped with the search, it is really appreciated. Please also make note of our Chairman’s message in this weeks Newsletter. It is vitally important that we all help out the captains on matchday, so splitting up the tasks (corner flags, nets, collecting subs, feeding and entertaining the opposition and ref, match report, submitting result, cleaning changing rooms, raffle etc.) is a great starting point. Right, on to this weekend’s action:

The 1s bounced back from their exit in the AFA Cup with a comfortable 4-0 win over Alexandra Park. Tougher tests are to come, and this Monday (18th Jan) they travel to Abbey Rangers, so if you are free the game is at Addlestone Moor, Surrey, KT15 2QH.

The 2s beat Old St Mary’s 2-0 to progress is the AFA Surrey/Kent Intermediate Cup, while the 3s crashed out the AFA Cup losing despite another brace for Matt Williams (22 goals so far this season!).

The 4s and 5s both had games against Polytechnic. The 4s played out a 2-2 draw with Polytechnic 5s while the 5s away trip ended in a 3-1 defeat.

The 6s defeated Merton 5s 3-1 at home and the 8s ensured they remained top of the league after beating Old Salesians 4-2 away.

Finally the 9s season keeps getting better, they recorded their 3rd league win of the season beating Merton 6s 3-2, which sees them climb to third in the table, 7 points behind the 8s.
