OWFC Newsletter No. 1585

Once again Old Wilsonians proved what a well run club it is after successfully hosting the AFA Cup Final between Old Garchonians and West Wickham. With supporters from both sides out in force and in full voice, it was West Wickham who triumphed, winning 2-0 with a goal in each half. OWFC 8XI

It could be suggested though that the crowd actually missed out on the best game played on Hayes this weekend. With a much smaller crowd (3) watching on the 8’s scored 6 goals without response, playing probably their best football of the season. The 8s still have an outside chance of winning the league, but it looks as likely as Aston Villa avoiding relegation.

Elsewhere the 9s were unable to help the 8s out, narrowly losing 2-1 to what seemed like a much changed Ibis Eagles side that comfortably beat the 8s in a double header last weekend. There was also a 2-1 defeat for the 7s in the early kick off on Hayes.

Elsewhere the 4s won on and lost one after making the always enjoyable trip to Acton, while the 6s lost away to HSBC 5-2.

Finally I would like to take the opportunity to thank everybody who supported the 8s in raising £350 in this weeks raffle with half of the proceeds are going to The Down’s Syndrome Association and The Brompton Fountain. Myself (Eggy), togger master Ed Adams, and “Big” Jim Prowting, are competing in the London Triathlon in August to raise funds for these charities to support James and Nicola Sparrow’s baby daughter Lily (you can keep up to date on her condition via Facebook by searching #lovelily). If you would like to help us in supporting these charities, which do so much work to help so many people less fortunate than us, then please follow the link at the bottom of this page.
