Catford & Cyphers 148 Old Wilsonians 149 for 6
This was an important indeed, crucial game for both sides as time is running out for them to maintain their Division Two status and, at various times, both seemed to be doing their respective causes a lot of good.
Catford & Cyphers won the toss, elected to bat and started solidly but then lost three wickets for eight runs before Andra Henry (83) and Waheeb Husaini (15) more than doubled their score to put them back in the game. However, Old Wilsonians then took seven wickets for just 36 runs as the spin twins of David Pilgrim, 4 for 38, and Ollie Willis, 3 for 23, saw them collapse to 148 all out in the 41st over.
The OW reply started disastrously, as Romando Browne, who finished with 3 for 31, had them reeling at 13 for 3, bur Syd Sherlock (66 n.o) and Louis Pryor (43) then put on 77 before the visitors struck again, but this was to be their last success as Sherlock found a willing ally in Dan Seston (26 n.o) to see the hosts safely over the line.
Old Wilsonians now go into their last game of the season, at Beckenham, knowing that they need just two points to achieve survival, whilst the Rubens Street based Club, who host Roebucks, sit uncomfortably in the second relegation place.
The OWs may now be able to sleep a little easier but Catford & Cyphers may live to regret not scoring at least two more runs and taking one more wicket which would have seen them two points above Bromley, the other side in trouble, who entertain champions Seven Oaks Vine on September 6th
Blackheath are not out of the relegation equation, either, and go to promotion hopefuls, Bexleyheath, for their last game.
The final games of the season are going to be tense; let's hope it does not rain!Old Wilsonians 2nd Xl 158 for 2, Linden Park 2nd Xl 162 for 5
Rain reduced this game to 30 overs a side and Old Wilsonians made a commendable 158 for 2, Siva Ranjan (32), Steve Blunt (54 n,o) and Eoin Matthews (42 n.o) being the prime contributors.
However, and although the OWs then went on to take five wickets, Linden Park achieved their target with more than six overs to spare, Alec Davies (23, Toby Seal (35) and Graeme Francis (58) leading the wayOld Wilsonians 4th Xl 101 Orpington 4th Xl 105 for 1
Orpington secured a comfortable nine wicket win over Old Wilsonians despite losing a wicket without a run on the board but, after that, it was plain sailing as Sai Reddy (46 n.o) and Palani Sri Harsha Parupalli (43 n.o) saw them safely home without any further alarms.
But it was their bowlers who were the stars of the game as only Jason James (35 n.o) thwarted them to any degree with Katrick Gover, 4 for 26 and a remarkable 2-2-0-3 from Matthew Taylor causing havoc amongst the OW batsmen
