Old Wilsonians 1st Xl 165 Bromley 2nd Xl 55 for 2
A ninth wicket partnership of 87 between Eoin Matthews (33) and Eliot Bettridge (40) rescued Old Wilsonians and frustrated Bromley in this game at Plaistow Lane. Just as importantly -perhaps more so? - was the fact that the Nos. 9 and 10 occupied the crease for 29.5 overs after eight of their supposedly 'higher ranked batsmen' had been dismissed in 17.1 overs with the score standing at 75 for 8 at the time , William Easterfield being the main beneficiary finishing with 5 for 16 from an impressive opening spell
(Batting at over 4 runs an over is a fine way to start an innings, but when it puts pressure on players picked for their ability to bowl, it could be described as somewhat foolhardy!)
When it came to Bromley's innings, Bettridge took a wicket with his second ball to underline his all-rounder qualities , after which it just seemed to be a matter of time before the rain would prove to be the real winner, which it did at the conclusion of the 18th over
Bexleyheath 2nd Xl 223 for 9, Old Wilsonians 2nd Xl 9 for 1
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Bexleyheath compiled a respectable 223 for 9 from their 45 overs, thanks largely to some fine batting from Hamish Kumar (58) and Jake Kendall (82 n.o) as the Old Wilsonian bowlers, Siva Ranjan, Joe Jukes and Sam Forbes all took two wickets in their efforts to restrict them.
In reply the OWs innings lasted just three overs before the rain brought a premature end to proceedings
Chelsfield 2nd Xl 198 for 6, Old Wilsonians 3rd Xl 17 for 0
After losing two early wickets Chelsfield re-grouped well with Askjad (74), Yash Barve (48) and, latterly, Rahul Deschpande (24 n.o) all contributing well, Josh Frampton, 4 for 35, being the stand-out Old Wilsonian bowler
Sadly the rain, that had threatened all afternoon, arrived with just 21 balls bowled of the OW innings, with their score on 17 for 0
Old Wilsonians 4th Xl 91 for 8, Bromley Common 4th Xl 92 for 0
On an afternoon when virtually every game in the Kent League was either abandoned or incomplete - thanks to the nemesis of cricket - rain - Bromley Common and Old Wilsonians had the good sense to agree a 25 overs a side game.
The OWs started well enough, with both openers, Derek Birmingham and Alex Forbes, scoring 20 but, after them, only Karim Mir (12) made any impression as Thomas Muzzelle, 4 for 23, and Matt Walker, 3 for 13, enjoyed bowling at them. (It is in the Bromley Common Constitution that all of their sides must contain at least one player named 'Walker.' )
In reply the hosts made short work of their reply with openers Robbie Williams - no, not that one (64 n.o) and Rhy Thomas (24 n.o) seeing them home in 11.5 overs - and before the rain
