Here are the answers to some of our FAQs:

How do I access the club car park when the main gates are locked

If you are an adult member or your child is a Junior, you will have been issued with a gate fob when you joined.   This should be held close to the keypad in the bushes to the right of the gate and the main gate will open.

If your child is a Colt, you will not automatically have received a gate fob.   The main gates are open during normal coaching hours but if you come to the club outside of these times and would like a fob, please contact the Membership Secretary via our Contact Us page.

You do not need a fob to leave the grounds.  Just drive towards the gates and they will open automatically.

Do I need any other security/access codes?

The codes for the pedestrian gate to enter the grounds, the tennis hut, the tennis pavilion and the ball cupboard cannot be reproduced here for obvious security reasons but can be found in the Welcome letter you received when you joined.

If you cannot locate the letter, please contact the Membership Secretary, as above, or the Club Secretary via our Contact Us page.

How do I book a court?

The online court booking system can be found on our ClubSpark website here.   You will need the login you created when you joined the club.   For more details, please refer to the information sheet here.

Members can also download the Booker app for iOS and Android.   You can find more details on the information sheet mentioned above.   Please note that the app has limited functionality and is a simple tool to allow you to book a court when you are out and about.

At the present time, it is not possible for non-member parents to use the Booker app to book courts for Colts and Juniors.

Am I required to provide my own tennis balls?

No, the club provides the tennis balls for coaching as well as for normal play.   There is a padlocked ball cupboard in the tennis hut – the code can be found in the Welcome letter you received when you joined.   Please do not take more than four balls onto court with you so that you leave enough in the cupboard for others to use.

How do the floodlights work?

All courts are floodlit.    Floodlights cost £5 per hour on the hard court and £6 per hour on the carpet courts.  The floodlight meters are coin-operated and take £1 and £2 coins.   All floodlight sessions must end no later than 22.00.

I don’t understand the court numbering?

Courts 1-4 are the carpet courts to the right-hand side as you walk towards the old tennis hut.   Courts 5 and 6 are to the left-hand side as you walk towards the old tennis hut.   Please book court 6 to use the practice wall.   Court 7 – our only hard court - is also known as the MUGA (multi-use games area).   Each court is clearly numbered at the railway line end.

What club sessions are available and how can I join in?

The club runs the following club sessions -

Saturday afternoon from 14.00:

Full adult members may turn up and play.   Junior members are invited to join in but must be aged 11 and above, play with a yellow ball and have the prior approval of Head Coach Jake Johnson.   Please check on the court booking sheet or the club events calendar for any special events which might be taking place.

Tuesday morning 11.00 - 13.00:

Adult members to sign up on a Googlesheet.   Please contact the Club Secretary via our Contact Us page for further information.

Thursday morning – 10.30 – 12.30:

Over 60’s and Vets only (aged over 45) - adult members to sign up on a Googlesheet.   Please contact the Club Secretary as above for further information.

What other events and tournaments take place at the club?

At the beginning of each year, we produce a Social Events and Tournaments Calendar.   For further information, please contact the Club Secretary via our Contact Us page.

Can I bring a visitor to play tennis at the club?

Yes, you can invite a visitor to play at the club.  Any non-member playing at the club must pay a visitor’s fee of £8 per session (under 16’s pay £2).  The different ways this can be paid are explained in the tennis hut alongside the ball cupboard – and include the ability to pay by bank transfer.  Each visitor may only play a maximum of six times in any one year and then they will be required to join.   Any visitors’ fees already paid will be deducted from the membership fee.   It is the responsibility of the member to ensure that the visitor’s fee is paid.

Does the club have a ball machine?

Yes, the club has a Slinger ball machine.   The machine may be used by members aged 18 and over and who have had the required training.   If you would like to be trained on the ball machine and for more information, please contact the Membership Secretary via our Contact Us page.

How do I book coaching?

For many years, RAW Tennis has delivered the coaching programme for OWLTC.   Head Coach Jake Johnson and his team offer both group and 1-2-1 coaching from tots to adults.   Please visit the RAW Tennis website (www.rawtennis.com) or contact Charlotte at bookings@rawtennis.co.uk for further information.

Does OWLTC have a Safeguarding Policy?

Yes, all our policies can be viewed on this website under the Safeguarding and Policies tab.   Our Safeguarding Officer, Judy Evans, can be contacted at judyevansgb@yahoo.co.uk or on 07908 842700 if you have any concerns about anything you see or hear affecting the wellbeing of any of our members.

How do I get involved if I want to volunteer?
