New Prez, New Club Captain , New Trustees , New Honorary Old Wilsonians - its all happening !

Posted 2nd April 2026

At the recent OWA CIO AGM . There was a lot of movement , so here are the highlights :-

Jamie Parkinson takes over the OWA Presidency from Stu Paton . Well done to Stu , who has been a calming influence over the last few years (which if you played football with him , was a surprise!). Well done Stu for all your hard work , Presidents ball , Bike Rack & never ending Padel . Jamie Parkinson has been Football secretary for the past 18 years, runs the Vets football team on Sundays & was a pupil & rteacher at Wilsons school & now works as a Derputy head at Wallington Girls School. he has a youngish family , is quiet & similar in a lot of ways to Stu (both will probably baulk at this!). Congrats Jamie . This is a 2 year term & Jamie also becomes a trustee.

New Club Captain is Adam Stone . Adam has been running junior teams , drinking at the bar, playing vets football & tennis for as long as i can remember . What is the club captain? its a thankyou for years of hard work across the club for someone who didnt go to Wilsons (ie the vast majority of our membership). Again this is an honorary position & im pretty certain we will celebrate both these gents over the coming year or so . Congrats Adam - lord it !

Honorary Old Wilsonians. 3 new ones & all of them have put in years of work making this club an nicer , friendlier place to be at . The first is Chris Kingshott who co-chairs the Junior Football club (his achievements are in the OWA CIO Minutes- its like "War and Peace"  ) , the second is Mark Williams who co-chaired with Chris , he also ran the Forbes Junior team for i reckon a decade . Between them , Adam and many others they made the Junior section what it is today . The third is Dave Welch who until this season chaired the Cricket club for 6 years . Dave was introduced a number of years back by Andy Steel as we needed umpires & scorers & this affable giant came into our lives. Like the othert two a lovely man , like the other two great company . Well done to you all you have made this club a better place thankyou.

Trustees - Stu Paton & Mark Mace (2 ex Presidents of OWA) make way for Jamie Parkinson & Dan Harris (the new President & President elect). The other trustees are Mick Pilgrim, Neil Kendrick, Nick Mole & Alex Forbes

lastly but not least Phil Gilmore ,takes over from Bill Hartley oversseing the maintenance of all our facilities .
