Lawn Tennis Club Update
✅ Courts Professionally Cleaned
Our six Tiger Turf courts have recently undergone professional mechanical brushing and re-sanding by Clearway Sport. Particular attention was given to the railway-side areas of Courts 1–4, where muddy deposits had accumulated over the winter. Most of the affected material has now been successfully removed, helping to restore the playing surface and improve court conditions for the year ahead.
Junior Round Robin Matches – 12 July
Following the success of the previous event earlier this year, Mark Fewster will be hosting another Junior Round Robin afternoon on Saturday 12 July (1.30pm–6.00pm) for current Youth Summer League players. Players will compete in small age-grouped pools of 3–5 participants, with each player facing the others in singles matches. The event aims to provide valuable match-play experience while developing skills, confidence and resilience.
New Club Website
A huge thank you to Peter Schoff and Ami Guneri for their continued work developing the club's new website. Built on the ClubSpark platform, the site provides a modern, user-friendly experience and allows the club to keep news, photos, fixtures and information up to date more easily. Members can already use the site for court bookings, newsletters, membership matters and access to the Members Area, with additional documents and policies being added in the coming months.
Fence Repairs – Volunteers Welcome
Committee members have begun a programme of fence repairs to extend the life of existing fencing before full replacement becomes necessary. The first repairs, completed on the MUGA fencing nearest the pavilion, have been very successful. Further work is planned on the railway-side fence alongside Courts 1–4. The repairs are straightforward, and additional volunteers would be greatly appreciated. If you can spare some time to help, please contact Tony Clark or Alan French.
Communications Officer Vacancy
After several years of valuable service, Mark O'Conner will step down as Communications Officer at the end of the year. The club is therefore seeking a new committee member to manage website updates and social media activity across Instagram and Facebook, promoting events, fixtures, results and club news. Members with enthusiasm and basic IT skills who would like to contribute to the club's development are encouraged to contact Alan French (afrench210@gmail.com) for further information.Important Reminder – Parking and Drop-Off Arrangements
IMPORTANT REMINDER
To ensure the safety of members and maintain good relations with our neighbours, parents dropping children at coaching sessions or tennis activities are asked to:
- Use the club's main car park at the end of the entrance road for all drop-offs and collections.
- Avoid turning around or parking in Hayes Hill, which is a private road.
- Avoid stopping at the club entrance.
- Avoid parking on the grassed area near the entrance.
- Consider walking or cycling to the club where possible.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and helps keep the club safe and accessible for everyone.
